About the Department
The Department of Mathematics was established in 2009 and offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes in Mathematics. The department has nine dedicated faculty members who are actively engaged in teaching as well as research. The faculty specializes in frontier areas of Mathematics, contributing to both academic growth and innovation.
In addition to offering core programmes, the department provides Mathematics courses to students of the School of Computing, the School of Commerce, and other Arts and Science streams.
The department prepares students for diverse career paths, including roles as mathematicians, actuaries, statisticians, academics, and researchers. Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences, with opportunities to interact with eminent mathematicians and academicians invited for guest lectures.
Furthermore, the department trains students for competitive government examinations, and many have successfully secured positions through TNPSC and other recruitment boards.

- The department will build upon its strengths for development of graduate programs in areas of need for the region.
Mission
- The mission of the Mathematics department is to provide an environment where students can learn, enabling them to become ultimate learners, and become best competent for struggle in their life.
- In pursuing this mission, primary departmental functions are the development, dissemination, and Application of Mathematical knowledge and in the areas of Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Actuarial Science.
