Mission
The department values teaching and research as equal and essential components of the education of our students and seeks to integrate research with teaching at every possible opportunity in the curriculum.
  • Develop an understanding of the physical and chemical behavior of matter, including the chemical basis of biological phenomena.
  • Promote innovative curriculum development while exposing students to advanced instrumentation and technology.
  • Develop an ability to think logically and clearly, to articulate their thoughts, and to critically evaluate experimental data and the scientific literature.
  • Serve as good role models to students for safe and ethical professional behavior.
  • Encourage students to value diversity and to develop a global perspective through international experiences in chemistry.
  • Promotes independent thought, collegial exchange of ideas and high ethical standards.
  • Development of strategic partnerships with other departments, academic institutions and chemical industry.
  • Learn to search and use the chemical literature to acquire up-to –date information about current problems in the chemical sciences and to critically analyze current work.
